“Men at the mirror” on the Urban Screen of Dom Square
Milan, an exhibition between Pitti Uomo n.76 and MMU
“The Mirror of Gifts – The Men Designers” is the photo exhibition that “will be on stage” at the Urban Screen of Dom Square in Milan from 20th until 24th June, that is the whole time of Milan Man Fashion.
Thirty-eight shots dedicated to the designers of the international fashion – like Scervino, Albino, Salvatore Ferragamo, Richmond, Barrett, the Caten twins of Dsquared2 and the Italian duo of Frankie Morello together with Sarli and Riva; but also Brioni, Borsalino, Ballantyne and the young Grimaldi Giardina, Fusco and Fiorucci – printed in the shots by Alessandro Villa in collaboration with Maria Cristina Lani.
In collaboration with the City Hall of Milan and Urban Screen, under the aegis of National chamber of Italian Fashion, this exhibition gathers for the first time 38 icons of man fashion choosing the heart of Milan, Dom Square, as the newest and coolest location where to exhibit.
“The real protagonist of the exhibition – says the curator Maria Cristina Lani – is the Mirror. That magic instrument, so powerful that, by traveling all along Italy, captured, witnessing it in its own way, the creativity gift of 38 of the most important men designers”. And she added: “We have been welcomed in their private spaces, those where they work and elaborate their private thoughts. To all of them I asked to express a thought on the gift. The most popular? Peacefulness”.
An exhibition as a reportage of vanity and truth, without set, artificial lights and tricks, chosen by the photographer Alessandro Villa to tell the real side of men who dictate the style of the made in Italy, of the Made in the World: “I immortalized their commitment, their effort, their teaching to others, exactly how they experience it every day, without creating images, but real histories”.
A gift, that of their creativity, continues with the opportunity for the 38 protagonists of the exhibition that, through a free offer, will be able to have their original shots and whose proceeds will contribute to a project of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion dedicated to young designers.
