Exhibition till 24th May
The exhibition dedicated to advertising manifestos will be open until 24th May at the Casino dei Principi di Villa Torlonia in Rome.
The exposition’s title is “The art of advertising. Italian manifestos and the avant-gardes 1920-1940”. It gathers more than a hundred advertising manifestos, sketches and books of the artistic avant-gardes that, from 1920 to 1940, marked the evolution of the relationship between art and advertising.
The exhibition consists of six sections: modern men and women, the playful mechanization of the human figure, Speed and boundaries, the Flight, Experiments of design and graphics and the Abstraction of the form.
A journey that, from the graphic refinement of the beginning of Nineteen hundred and from the neat sign and vivid chromatisms of Futurism comes to the meanings of expressionism and to the rigours of rationalism through research and testing fields of some of the greatest artists of the Nineteen hundred: Adolfo Wild, Duilio Cambellotti, and futurists Balla, Depero, Prampolini, Mario Sironi and Lucio Fontana.
Many were the artists that joined the show – among which also: Leonetto Cappiello, Marcello Dudovich, Nicolaj Diulgheroff, Gino Boccasile, Erberto Carboni, Bruno Munari, Sepo, Federico Seneca – with works featuring essential lines, daring colour combinations and great variety of graphic languages.
