Dining at the Sforzesco Castle
It is now ready the renovation project signed by David Chipperfield and Michele De Lucchi
David Chipperfield and Michele De Lucchi together to transform the Milan Sforzesco Castle.
The works, funded by the Cariplo Foundation, for a sum of 20 millions euro, will start during the coming autumn and plan a “bridging tower” with a lift to climb more easily the battlemented walls, a café with spaces overlooking the courtyard and a restaurant, to feel a bit as a Milanese Duke while sipping an aperitif admiring the city from the top of the Castle towers.
“This operation – explained the Mayor of Milan Letizia Moratti – aims at valorising the Castle as a monument of the city, but also as the museum of all museums.” In fact, the renovation project aims at the reorganization of the museum arrangement through the insertion of renovated art collections besides, obviously, aiming at the realization of new spaces for welcoming visitors and for exhibition activities, at the creation of a conference hall, and at making more accessible the walk on the battlemented towers, where a panoramic restaurant and the club house will also be situated.
