Elite Tourism in full sail
In Lugano the Luxury Tourism Awards
Set against a blurred scenario upon which rests the tourism sector that experienced a significant decrease in last year’s turnover, the world of exclusive holidays continues blossoming. According to the latest data, luxury travels experienced a 10% increase per year in the last five years: 25 million tourists in 2008 that spent 116 billion euros, equal to 25% of the entire division. The crisis is damaging quite a few sectors and it’s accelerating an evolutionary process that progressively sees the disappearing of “middle luxury”, launching back into the market and reinforcing the sector of a more exclusive and unrestrained luxury. The jet set indeed does not give up anything, but rather demands more and more personalized and “original” services.
This is the positive atmosphere that surrounded the first edition of MeetingLuxury, event organized by PROMAX Communications S.A. that took place in Lugano at the “Exposition Centre” from April 16 to 18. Luxgallery was a web media partner of this happening that was dedicated to the highest level of tourism, that of excellence and luxury.
The event was extremely successful both in terms of participants (85 exhibitors, 30 countries represented, 120 international exhibitors, over 1200 hosted buyers in three days, 450 accredited trade visitors and more than 100 international newspapers), and in terms of business. The meetings that the event generated surpassed the number of 15 thousand and the exhibitors stated that 90% of the contact details is of high-quality and with great development potentials. In fact, at the end of the event, 6% of the meetings turned into a contract signed by exhibitor and buyer.
Key moment of the event was the award of the Luxury Tourism Awards that took place at the hotel Splendide Royal. The winners are:
