Emporio Armani, sunglasses for RED
In support of the initiative by Bono and Bobby Shriver against AIDS in Africa
Creativity marries solidarity with the new sunglasses Emporio Armani created in support of (RED), the economic initiative founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver for the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa, which Giorgio Armani adhered to in 2006.
We are talking of a little mask characterized by a rectangular metal frame, decorated with a metal plaque featuring an open-worked star framing the lens, embellishing the silhouette. The thin forked-arm pieces carry the writing Emporio Armani, whereas the logo (Emporio Armani) RED personalizes the acetated ends. The model will be available in a single version: amber-pink coloured.
The model is on sale starting from April 2009 in all stores Emporio Armani and in all specialized optical stores worldwide.
(RED) is a global initiative whose main objective is that to involve the private sector in the fight against AIS in Africa, providing funds derived from the sales of RED products (PRODUCT) in favour of the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. Societies involved in the production of RED products (PRODUCT) commit to devolve part of the proceeds, obtained through sales in favour of the Global Fund, to support the programs of fights against AIDS in Africa, paying particular attention to women and children. Current partner societies are: : American Express (only UK), Apple, Converse, Gap, Emporio Armani, Hallmark, Dell, Windows and Starbucks. Since the launch in 2006 more than 125 million dollars were generated by (RED) for the Global Fund. (RED) funds are used in Swaziland, Rwanda, Ghana and Lesotho.
