Fall, to become young again
The season for aesthetic intervention
While summer is usually a still moment for aesthetic surgery and medicine, fall is the most suitable moment for facial interventions.
“During the cold season and, especially when Chrsitmas comes, the demands for facial lifting increase”, says Patrizia Gilardino, aesthetic surgery in Milan, associate in the Italian Society of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (Sicpre). After holidays, the face wrinkles are the most scary ones. “The sun exposure can underline the so-called crow’s feet, or emphasize face wrinkles and stretch-marks that were not perceived as a problem before”, continues Gilardino. From September through November the great protagonist is the face. “According to my experience, most of the interventions which take place throughout the year are focused in these months”, recalls Gilardino. “This is explained with the proximity to the cold months: therefore, one tends to dress up warm and stay at home. This allows to face a serious intervention, like a lifting, which requires at least one week post-operation convalescence”.
The tendency is confirmed also with regard to aesthetic medicine. “The treatments to make the face look younger meet the greatest interest during the fall”, continue Dr Gilardino. “They consist of injections of botox or filler which are a quick solution for those who want to look younger without excessive efforts. There are also special treatments like iontophoresis or mesotherapy allowing to tone up the skin restoring a beautiful appearance and taking away a few years”.
After Christmas, with spring approaching, the aesthetic surgery, instead, is focused on the body. “Despite a still cold weather, people are already glimpsing at the summer, when the body is the real protagonist” says Gilardino. Therefore, liposuctions become the real ‘stars’, together with mastoplastics and breast lift.
