The best of Italian hotellerie host art masterpieces.

To welcome at the best their guests, some prestigious hotels in Venice and Milan gathered art projects displayed throughout their own city and made out of them the key feature of their hospitality.

The tourists that prepare to visit the enchanting lagoon will have the chance of encountering art as soon as they reach the hall of their hotel.

In fact, Danieli, Gritti Palace and The Westin Europa & Regina, Venice icons of the Starwood Group, inaugurated a precious collaboration with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, from which it stemmed an initiative made of art, hospitality and high cuisine.

Until December 10, 2009, Nicola Colucci, Daniele Turco and Alberto Fol, Executive Chefs of the three Venetian hotels, will find their sources of inspiration for the creation of their culinary masterpieces in the three exhibitions scheduled for 2009 at the prestigious American-Venetian museum, for which they are already in charge of providing entrance “service” too.
We start with Futurism that will be “cooked” by Alberto Fol of the Westin Europa & Regina. Besides the tasting samples inspired by recipes strictly connected to the movement of which this year is the centenary, it will be possible to taste shellfish, a special monochromatic risotto, or, for dessert, an incredible bavarese with ricotta and strawberries decorated with the reproduction of “Dynamism of a cyclist” by Umberto Boccioni.

From May 30 to September 20 it will be the turn of  Robert Rauschenberg to be on show. The Danieli will homage the artist by offering a menu inspired by his metal sculptures.

Finally, a synesthesia of sensations is what is offered to those dining at the Gritti Palace, after having visited the exhibition dedicated to the romantic watercolours of Maurice Prendergarst, from October 10 to December 10.

Milan too is one of the most visited destinations by tourists from all over the world. Besides the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci or the Rondanini Pietà by Michelangelo, the most exclusive guests of the very central Seven Stars Gallery will be offered the chance to revive thoroughly the 16th century atmosphere of the Gallery Vittorio Emanuele.

The only Milanese 7 stars hotel overlooks the fashion quadrilateral that is today the heart of grand international maisons, but was originally the salon of Italian bourgeoisie, with its cafes and hotels as gathering spot for governors, intellectuals and business men.

Today, those old times revive in the Salon and in the noble Floor of the Gallery Vittorio Emanuele II. Only by booking it is possible to visit the private collection of the great art dealer Baratti, antique dealer since 1964, then consultant of the Washington National Gallery and of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, and finally collector of Antique Art, specialized in antique paintings, furniture of the XVII and XVIII century and sculptures.

Here you can find the portraits of Vittorio Amedeo II Duke of Savoy and King of Sardinia, His Excellence Visconti painted by Felice Biella and Tuscan painters Jacopo Vignali (Arezzo 1592-Firenze 1644) and Domenico Pugliani (Firenze 1589-1658), together with the masterpieces of private collections, such as big sculptures and Flemish tapestries of the XVI-XVII centuries.

Alessandro Rosso, of the Alessandro Rosso Group, defines the initiative: “As a real Private House, you can enter only if invited or if you are a guest” – specifying that on this occasion “the Ristorante La Sinfonia will suggest a menu thought ad hoc for each guest, created and designed as a tailor-made dress by the Chef Giacomo Gaspari.”
