Scala Theatre opens with Carmen
Bizet opens the season
It will be a classic opera like Georges Bizet’s Carmen to inaugurate, as always on 7th December, the opera and ballet season at the Scala Theatre in Milan.
With a new production of the Milan Theatre, the opéra-comique will be staged in four acts by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy that was played for the first time in Paris on 3rd March 1875.
Daniel Barenboim’s baton will conduct the Orchestra and Choir of the Scala Theatre and top soloists like Jonas Kaufmann, Erwin Schrott, Anita Rachvelishvili, Adriana Damato.
The direction and costumes are by Emma Dante, the setting is by Richard Peduzzi and the lights by Dominique Bruguière. The coral director is Bruno Casoni.
The opera will be on stage also on 4th December, in a preview dedicated to youngsters, and on 10th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 20th, 23rd December 2009.
