VII International Oil Competition
In conjunction with Vinitaly, Verona hosted the International Fair of Quality Extra-Vergin Oil, a fundamental event for all the operators of the field where to exchange professional experiences, meet the leaders of the market, national and international buyers and find innovative solutions in respect of the historic and established oil tradition.
Sol D’Oro 2009 is aimed at enhancing the visibility of oil production, making it known to consumers and operators, presenting to the public the variety of local olive extra-virgin oils, especially in regard to their geographic origin and at stimulating the effort of companies, aimed at constantly improving the quality of products.
The VII edition of the competition will award national and international extra-virgin oils; 248 participants coming from ten countries of the five continents, from Australia to Peru, from Chile to Palestine, livened up this 2009 edition, competing with their products in the following categories: light fruity, medium fruity, intense fruity.
The Agraria Riva del Garda company triumphed with its DOP Garda Trentino in the Light Fruity category. Italian is also the oil awarded in the category Intense Fruity, produced by the Frantoio Franci S.n.c. di Montenero d’Orcia (Grosseto), while the award Sol d’Oro in the category Medium Fruity was given to the Spanish company S.C.A. Almazaras De La Subbetica – Carcabuey (Priego de Cordoba).
