Tailor made Ferrari

The one-to-one personalisation service by Ferrari takes the concept of luxury to the extremes

Initially available only as a service for purchasers of the 612 Scaglietti Flagship, the service will offer a more complete personalized experience thanks to the creation of an atelier-area at the Maranello factory.

The 612 Scaglietti is the model used to mark the start of Ferrari’s new One-to-One Personalisation Program, which offers to customers a 360° personalisation experience of this sedan thanks to a wide range of new contents.

Customers will in fact have the possibility to thoroughly customize their Ferrari flagship making use of new contents that add up to the ones already available through the “Carrozzeria Scaglietti” Programme. In addition to this, a reserved area will be made available in Maranello, where each customer will have the opportunity to design his own tailor-made 612 Scaglietti, defining details, choosing materials and talking with experts, who will later take in charge the realization of the Grand-Turismo satisfying their exact specifications and tastes. A dedicated Ferrari consultant will assist the customer down to the smallest detail, throughout the entire process of personalization of the vehicle. All versions will obviously maintain the quality and style characteristics proper of the flagship model and will continue to guarantee the safety and reliability standards proper of the brand. Just as in a maison de haute couture, each customised 612 Scaglietti will be a unique car; it will be built in Maranello within a specific and reserved assembly area, specifically conceived for the realization of this car.

To underline the luxury and flexibility of the possible customisations on the 612 Scaglietti, the car was presented in a version which in fitting takes from the classical configuration of the 365 GTB4, starting from the typical “Daytona” seat. The new 612 Scaglietti, that marks the start of Ferrari’s first customisation program, combines a series of technical developments which reflect Ferrari’s philosophy aimed at introducing developments through each model. In particular, the 612 Scaglietti with a V12 engine also includes an electrochromic panoramic roof that covers the entire top part of the cabin. This enhances that peculiar feeling of driving in a drop-top, while contemporarily maintaining the comfort of a coupé. This is not, however, an ordinary panoramic roof.

It was built with electrochromic technology, which allows the regulation of the level of sunlight allowed in the cabin. This feature was developed in close co-operation with Saint Gobain, a partner with whom Ferrari recently worked to develop an extremely innovative solution for the Superamerica. In addition to its electrochromic roof, the 612 Scaglietti is also equipped with a SuperFast gearbox, featuring a gear-shifting time of 100 milliseconds and enhanced responsiveness, thanks to a reduced inertia clutch. The iconic Ferrari Manettino, featured on the entire range, was also added to the steering wheel.

The 612 Scaglietti is not only a 2+2, but a two-door four-seater car, roomy and cosy, regardless of driving conditions. The Ferrari One-to-One Personalisation Program was presented at the International Geneva Motor Show and at the 10th International Motorshow 2008 in Beijing. China represents in fact a strategically important market for Ferrari.

In 2007, a total 180 cars was delivered to Chinese customers, with an increase in sales of over 48% compared to the previous year. Ferrari China is working to be recognised as one of the most important markets in the world for the brand. Ferrari and Maserati are both present on Chinese markets thanks to a joint venture, Ferrari Maserati Cars International Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., whose majority stock is owned by Ferrari S.p.A. The company was founded in August 2004, head-quartered in Shanghai, it manages market expansion and the development of the sales network in addition to dealing with technical support and the purchase of spare parts. Ferrari China has thus wanted to establish an exclusive relationship with its customers and fans, guaranteeing a wide sales and assistance network, spreading over the 10 most important Chinese cities: Beijing, Dalian, Qingdao, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Moreover, the prestigious assistance service offered to Ferrari customers is available throughout the whole network, with particular reference to Shanghai, where a new and luxurious 3S Centre was recently opened; Beijing hosts the biggest 3S Centre in Asia and Guangzhou, which, with its new showroom, represents one of the biggest and best equipped garages in the whole of China. By the end of this year, the first Ferrari Owners’ Club will be opened, which will enable customers to meet and share their passion for the Prancing Horse.
