The new Jaguar XJ is coming

Preview at the Frankfurt Show in September

The ownership shift at the Jaguar maison is already yielding benefits. The English maison specialized on sportive elegance par excellence, under the push of the innovative giant Tata, announced that on the occasion of the coming Frankfurt Show (September 17-27) the new XJ will be presented.

Design Manager of the Bromwich Castle Maison, Ian Callum, is working hard so that XJ too could abandon old stylistic elements and rather embrace the new ones inaugurated by XF. That is a new style that completely revolutionizes Jaguar’s musts without loosing their identity so to have a coupé-sedan featuring a more inclined windscreen and a descending roof linked to the rear window, while boasting more marked volumes, especially at the back bringing about significant improvements in regard to the size of the car trunk.

XJ will feature wider optical groups, protected at the front by a single lens and at the back made of horizontally-oriented wrapping LEDs. It will loose the typical lateral crank windows set. New features are found on the inside of the compartment too: gear shift handle, push button start mechanism and spectacular conditioning foldaway units.

In line with the existing model, the new XJ will preserve the aluminium body allowing for an extremely light weight and reduced emissions and consumption, thanks to the number of gears that could increase from 6 to 8.

As far as it concerns the engine, Jaguar opted for the new 5 liter-V8 engine with direct fuel injection, 385 hp pumping version, 510 horse-power compressor, a part from the 3 liter-V6 Diesel bi-turbocharged engine, 275 horse-power. Nonetheless the possibility of a V6 fuel direct injection was not entirely faded out, as well as that of an hybrid, technology upon which the group Jaguar-Land Rover has been working for quite some time already.
