Nature and technology, tradition and science merge in products and structures for health farms that meet the requirements of those looking for the best even when it is about wellness. At Cosmoprof 2009, which took place over the last days in Bologna, we met Andrea Riccio, General Manager of Esagono, top firm in the production of interior design for spa, health farms and beauty farms, that over the last years expanded the areas of intervention in the Beauty and Wellness sector, offering high quality products, consultant services and training course.

On the occasion of the fair, different novelties have been presented. Among them, Ofurokneipp, a two okumè wooden-bath tubs structure that couples the Japanese bath tradition with the changing temperature therapy, created by abbot J.S. Kneipp.
Making use of the healthy virtues of the hydrotherapic practices, the treatment program is based on the rotation from a hot water tub (40/42°C) to a cold water one (20/28°C), that re-establishes a perfect circulatory balance.

From the encounter among the ingredients of the natural medicine, the love for design and the master craftsmanship, derives the new Thalaxoterm, an okumè-wood shell containing an innovative technological heart, offering the chance to undertake countless treatments with natural active ingredients, managing each task through an intuitive control panel.

Thalatepee Suite
is a real wellness suite, a space consecrated to the discover of beauty and wellness rituals where, thanks to the extreme flexibility of the parts and to the help of modern technology, it is possible to create, according to the different models, numerous personalized treatment programs: from aromatherapy, music therapy and chromo therapy to thermal treatments; from seaweed, mud and clay baths to talassotherapy, until the various massage techniques and much more.

The properties of precious stones and essential oils of exotic plants merge in Gemology, collection of SPA-cosmetics created by Chrystelle Lannoy and imported to Italy from Esagono few months ago. The formulations transform and adapt to the application and offer unique and original sensations: for instance, the cleansing milk becomes fresh water on the skin and the day lotion becomes a gel. The collection offers the chance the spread gently on the skin the diamond, opal, quartz, mother-of-pearl, hematite, jade, sapphire, ruby and all the other gems essential to the brightness and beauty of the skin. The toasty sensation is amplified by the biologic water from New Zealand, bringing the active ingredients of exotic plants, among which the pale Rose of Iran, the Tamanu of Polynesia and the African Manketti.

Eventually Morjana, a Spa-cosmetics collection inspired to colours and aromas of Marocco.

Dr. Riccio, what are the novelties presented at Cosmoprof?

If we talk about luxury, here you can find it in all its versions for the wellness. From the exclusivity of the wood to the rarity of the precious stones. Esagono was born twenty years ago as a firm for prestigious furnishings, to specialize then in the world of wellness, with equipments and structures devoted to the Spa. Our products combine Italian design to the cabinet-makers’ craftsmanship and to the warmth of the wood utilized in the boats. We work both for organizations and private business, among which a middle-eastern prince. One of the novelities that we present at the fair is Ofurokneipp, hydrotherapic program in two tubs inspired to the ritual of the Japanese bath. The finishing are handmade. Who purchases this kind of product purchases a forniture, not simply a bath tub.

What else?
There is Thalaxoterm, the steam bath, also completely handmade and wooden. It is manageable from inside and it is possible to take a hay, mud or precious oils bath. One can alternate from warm to cold, making use of Kneipp’s principles and the ingredients of the natural medicine. This one as well is entirely made in Italy product: it is enough to say that the handles are by Pininfarina. Then it comes Thalatepee Suite, where you can take sauna, Turkish bath, chromo therapy, aroma therapy and not only: inside there are more than 27 different microclimates. The name has its origin from the tent of American Indians (Tepee), in which the Lakota people performed the sacred rites of purification: the Inipi, that in ancient Sioux language means “to be born again”.

What are the plus of these structures?

There is an important return to nature with the interaction of water and wood. Esagono imports Gemology since January. The term combines gems and cosmetics, nature and science, and exploits the properties of each stone. The oleo-elements are extracted and affect the skin. For instance, of the diamond one can exploit its refraction that gives brightness to the skin. The lotion reduces 70%of wrinkles. The treatments are comfortable, and the effect can be prolonged at home thanks to a set of special treatments. Furthermore, one can make use of the properties of a range of products with cosmetic natural virtues. To enrich the treatment one should use the water of New Zealand, basically exempt from pollution and enriched with minerals that are not present in purified water with which most of the products on the market are created.

What convinced you to import it to Italy?
The idea underneath this product is that it is not the typical cosmetic: it’s about cuddles not centimetres and we promise what we can maintain.

How to face the crisis?

With a positive spirit. And in this period, we do need cuddles and wellness, which is why our sector is growing.
