“During the visit to the Maybach Manufaktur of Sindelfingen, I had the inspiration to create tho iconographic pictures conveying the same seducing and dynamic attraction of the Maybach itself”, said LaChapelle.

It was love at first sight since the last spring and it was expressed through a series of pictures whose subjects are the limited edition of the Zeppelin and its ancestor from the 1930s, the Zeppelin DS8, immortalized in the surreal and sensual atmosphere characteristic of the American photographer.

The shots, “Exposure of luxury” and “Berlin stories”, have been presented on the occasion of Art Basel Miami Beach in early December 2009.

On 1 December 2009, the Ferrari Coinages by Pininfarina was presented. The art collection realized by Bolaffi is made of six medals, inset within a transparent resin sculpture, each representing a detail of the automobiles that have been the milestones of the Prancing Horse’s history.

Hand made by Italian craftsmen, this exclusive collection, whose limited edition produced 999 pieces, pays tribute to the made in Italy thanks to the merging of art, automobiles and design.

Absolute protagonists of the project, selected and ideated by Pininfarina and Ferrari, are: Ferrari California (2008), 360 Modena (1999), 365 GT4 BB (1973), Dino 206 GT (1967), 400 Superamerica (1961), 250 GT Cabriolet (1960).

Dedicated to collectors and fans of the Prancing Horse, every single piece is made of 925 silver, featuring a 35 mm diameter and weighting approximately 30 gr. It takes an entire year to produce one.
The medals are hand carved and refined, whereas the main body is made out of a casting process. By overlapping the single works, it is obtained pyramid-shaped sculpture. Each set is provided with an introduction signed by Paolo Pininfarina and with the copy of the original draft of the vehicle.

On 3 November, on the occasion of the Gala dinner organized by Ferrari at the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing, the Ferrari 599 China was auctioned and it is now worth €1.2 million.
This jewel, embellished by the fine mastery of Lu Hao, the very first Chinese artist collaborating with the Prancing Horse, was knocked down by an anonymous client from Shanghai.

Apart from the vehicle, other items were up for auction: a suit worn by pilot Giancarlo Fisichella, a helmet and a mini-model of a 599 GTB autographed by Michael Shumacher.
The proceeds generated from the sale of this car will be used on an educational sponsor programme aimed to help young Chinese students and researchers of the Department of Automotive Engineering of Tsinghua University. They will have the chance to study at the Politecnico in Milan and do a stage at Ferrari.

At the Gala dinner there were Ferrari clients, collectors, Managing Director Ferrari Asia-Pacific Marco Mattiacci, artist Lu Hao, Professor Cen Zhangzhi from Tsinghua University, the most prestigious university in China, and the delegate of the Milan Politecnico, Bruno Pizzigoni.

599 GTB Fiorano China Limited Edition was realized by Chinese artist Lu Hao. A unique exemplar was auctioned in Beijing on 3 November during the Gala organized by Ferrari in favour of an educational programme aimed to help Chinese students in the automotive engineering field.

To make this vehicle particularly special are the silver roof and Chinese deco elements that are fully integrated into the overall design. The one-off incorporates a number of the features of the China Limited Edition cars.
The external structure features a finish inspired by ultra-rare Ge Kiln porcelain from the Song dynasty, with a distinctive “cracked” glaze pattern etched into the paint and signed by the artist.

“The 599 China Limited Edition is a true masterpiece, combining rich Chinese artistic heritage with Italian design in a most spectacular way,” commented Marco Mattiacci, Managing Director of Ferrari Asia-Pacific.

The 599 GTB Fiorano China Limited Edition means charity and art all together. This is just the latest example of charitable events organized by Ferrari in China since Ferrari Maserati Cars International Trading – Shanghai Co. Ltd was set up in 2004. Other fund-raising efforts have seen Ferrari donate over €500,000 to local charities.

This new luxury first class is called Kosmo Suite. As the name suggests, it is a proper mini suite.

The passenger will be immersed in absolute comfort and privacy. The seat, 15 cm longer than standard first class seats, can tilt back so to reach a horizontal position.

In fact, on 17th September opens its doors one of the most awaited events of car fans that will be able to admire the last novelties about engines until the next 27th September. Celebrating its 63th edition, the International Motor Show of Frankfurt stretches over a wide surface of 225,000 s-m that will host 1000 exhibitors and about 1 million visitors.

And if in Frankfurt there are obviously suggestions for every taste and requirement, there are also few models that can’t be admired.
Let’s start with Lamborghini Reventon Roadster, extreme super-sportive with a V12 of 670 hp and available in dull grey, slipping to the small but gritty Abarth 695 «Tributo Ferrari », with its 180 hp and a very sportive set, to the Aston Martin Rapide, embodying a new challenge within the narrow sphere of the four doors coupe.

Limited edition for Porsche that at the Show Room presents, besides the 911 Turbo and the 911 Gt3 destined to racing, another variant of 911, of 403 hp and oh which there are only 250 items.
It is being talked about, although not always positively, the new Jaguar Xj, that thanks to the use of aluminium, treated with techniques of aerospace derivation, weighs 150 kilos less than the competitors. Endowed with a 275 hp engine (the V6 diesel) has a bodyshop 50% made of recycled elements, with the chance to raise the percentage to 75.

Obviously there is room also for less attainable novelties although always worth notice like the two novelties, really sportive, by Mini, the Concept Coupé and the Roaster or the 5Gt and the XI of Bmw.

Big trend of this edition 2009 of the Show Room of Frankfurt are the electric cars among which stand out supercars like Audi R8 and Mercedes Sls Amg with 563 hp.
Among the hybrids we point out the Bmw « Vision Efficient Dynamics », car of the future endowed with a small three cylinders turbodiesel engine cobined with two electric engines or the concept ix-Metro of Hyundai, a Suv-shaped city car.

The Golden Cup has always boasted a natural scenario, unique in the world. The Dolomites’ peaks, recently awarded the title of World Heritage by UNESCO, were originally coral reefs and are now proper monuments made of candied and fascinating rocks. They accompany the participants during both the stops scheduled for this edition.

The program provides for 210 km and 25 clocked tests for the first round on Friday 4 September, during which the cars will go from Cortina toward Agordo through the passes Forcella Cibiana and Duran, and again they’ll head, passing through pass Cereda, to San Martino di Castrozza where lunch will take place. A stopover in the shade of the Pale where competitiveness will give way to conviviality and then off again toward Cortina d’Ampezzo, through passes Rolle and Valles, briefly stopping in Canale d’Agordo in front of the birthplace of Pope Luciani, and then continuing toward the steep slope of the Giau pass, which is one of the most fascinating and mighty spots of the Dolomites near Ampezzo. From the Giau pass to Cortina is the last leg of the journey, short but challenging.

The second round, on Saturday, is of about 190 km and 20 clocked tests. The route stars on the opposite direction than the one on Friday and the goal is that to reach Dobbiaco, crossroad of the High Pusteria, Villabassa, Villa Ottone, wonderful picturesque village of the Tures Valley, and then to stop over the historic centre of Brunico where the staff members will have lunch surrounded by a typical South Tyrolean atmosphere. The return route to Cortina will pass through S. Virgilio di Marebbe, the splendid Alta Badia, S. Cassiano, the Valparola Pass, the Falzarego Pass and then descend toward Cortina to conclude the day with dinner at the Faloria Resort, reachable via cableway.

Sunday morning is entirely dedicated to the Tag Heuer-Barozzi trophy, originated out of the collaboration between the watch-making maison and the prestigious jewellery store of Brescia. This year’s prize, the “Grand Carrera calibre 17” chronograph, will be awarded to the team that will classify first at the “city route” run. The route will involve all the teams in a spectacular competition set against the exclusive scenario of the Ampezzo Dolomites. The second classified will be awarded the “Grand Carrera calibre 6” and up to the tenth position, winners will receive a prize signed by Tag Heuer.

Throughout the entire event, the audience – mainly made of tourists and fans – will be entertained with the presentation of vehicles by journalist Savina Confaloni, famous SKY reporter.
