From 25th to 27th February 2010 is back the single boat show dedicated to superyachts and megayachts of the Middle East, the Abu Dhabi Boat Show that this year, at its second edition, will take place at Yas Marina

25th-27th FebruaryFrom 25th to 27th February 2010 the single boat show dedicated to superyacht and megayacht of the Middle East, the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show at its second edition.
This year the event will be hosted by the Yas Marina, which was already the background of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

“Only two months before the second Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, the news that this elite event will move to the wonderful Yas Marina, on Yas Island, will allow us to show to the world all the top infrastructures for spare time that are in evolution in the territory of our emirate.
Yas Island is a perfect location for the event because it features many harbours” said his Excellence Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, President of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, main sponsor of Abu Dhabu Yacht Show, and President of ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center).

Moving to Yas Marina, featuring many docking and mooring structures and a significant number of slots, was necessary due to the need of a huge quay capable to host a bigger edition of the boat show. The latter focuses especially on superyachts and megayachts. The success of the first edition, whose sales reached the value of over 100 million dollars, lets us forecast opportunities for first class business.

The new location is more than adequately equipped to handle the growing number of exhibitors and the number of yachts that will enter the show 2010. The program of the exhibition has been improved and strengthened and they are trying to create the ideal atmosphere to encourage meetings, business and the global interaction among the guests, exhibitors, visitors and potential buyers.

Taking place under the aegis of His Excellence Sheikn Mohammed Bin Zayed Bin Al Nayhan, hereditary prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy captain in chief of the Armed Force of the United Arab Emirates, the show is seen as a fundamental element to crystallize the growing reputation of Abu Dhabi as a nautical destination at an international level.

Among the exhibitors Soraya Yachts, Rodriguez, Platinum Yachts, Perini Navi, Fincantieri Yacht.

The new range of the Italian shipyard growsIt will be launched in spring the 36 Bellagio, the second model of the new range of sportive motorboats of the Giacomo Colombo S.p.A., following the 26.

The boat emphasizes, through the modern style, the typical quality and exclusivity of the brand Colombo. The deck has a contemporary design that Nuvolari and Lenard designed for this new model. The naval architecture firm Victory Design of Brunello Acampora, instead, designed the hull.

In the simplicity of its layout, with well furnished cockpit and large sundeck, there is his functionality. On the design, the choice of materials, the care of construction, depends, instead, its exclusivity.

The stern turns into the gangway and “beach”, taking up a distinctive feature of the range, already proposed on the model 26.
Under the deck, the space is entirely devoted to the owner’s suite, while, on demand, it is possible to set up a cabin crew.

The 36 Bellagio of Colombo will be powered by Volvo Penta IPS 400 propulsion system with 300 hp turbo diesel D4, to offer maximum agility, mooring and cruising.

K60 Anaconda, The Kardis flagshipPower, safety, aggressive style are combined in the new flagship designed for the shipyard Kardis by KeyFrameStudio, the K60 Anaconda, charaterized by technology and comfort.

The light boat trailer tires turn the engine power into speed, agility and manageability.
Everything is meant to maximize the comfort. The inflatable tube synonim of safety, makes the RIB-based boat utterly unsinkable, while smoothing out the rolling effect, allowing for effective turning in rough seas and protecting against waves splash in all weathers. The shore allows for a direct contact with the water. The interior dinette, covered in the central part of the boat, can host up to twelve people while the bridge is lifted and central so to have always the maximum control of the boat.

Thanks to the experience of Andrea Cardinetti, owner of the shipyard, the boat has been created with the most advanced production systems CAD-CAM.
The shapes, however, are the result of a great care to make both interior and exterior very liveable spaces and the navigation comfortable.

Luxury, sport and environment, all the novelties presented at the Genoa Boat Show, 2009. Many previews for those loving sportive and fast boats, like catamarans, luxury yachts and sailing boats

Luxury, sport, environmentOn 3rd October will be raised the curtain on the Genoa Boat Show 2009. There will be many previews, for those looking for a sportive and fast boat, a catamaran or a luxury yacht.
While waiting for the new proposals in terms of sailing boats, there are novelties among the motor boats, sportive yachts, powerboats, innovative materials and care for the environment.
For those who want to share a relaxing holiday with friends or family, in a space endowed with all comforts and vanguard design there is, for instance, the unmistakable line San Lorenzo SL 100 New, that can be customized by the shipowner, made even more contemporary by the lines, with many innovations and with bold elements of design interiors, or the 36 meters in fibreglass, Akhir 118 by the Pisa Shipyards, with two strip openings, one above and one below the hull band, yield new windows in the owner’s cabin.

The Aicon Group, aside the world preview of the Dinghy 33 by Morgan, will launch a new brand of semi-displaced boats. The new collection, with three new models, the first of which, a 110’, is already in construction, is inspired to an innovative idea of design, sustainable because eco-compatible, thanks to new technologies and to the low consumptions, but also thanks to a new conception of the lines, retrieving classical forms in terms of sailing.

Two the novelties both for Absolute, with the Absolute 64 and the 42 HT, and Queens Yachts presenting the Queens 54’ and 62’.
For those who are attracted to the most advanced technologies, there is – with a touch-screen console at the wheel and the Fairline Systems Pilot allowing the owner to control all the electric system of the boat – the 20 meters Squadron 65 presented by the Fairline British shipyards, with four cabins and built according to high standards.

Relies on ecological solutions Giannetti Star with the Navetta GS65, thought of according to the Italian Style. Safety is matched with exceptional performances: 1800 miles of autonomy at cruising speed, from 14 to 18 cruising knots with soaring trim, 21 knots of maximum speed. Great autonomy, even in fresh water, secured by big tanks and by the desalination plant: there is no need to find moors in the most crowded harbours and to refuel every few days.

If Grand Banks launches the 41 Heritage, also the 440 Goldstar Sport by Cantieri Estensi makes its début, combining safety with nautical qualities of fishing boats to which the whole collection is inspired. The gears used are among the most reliable like the engines FTP N67-450 for professional use combined with cylinders in line.

The F46 of Sealine, that will be distributed in Italy at the Cantieri Nautici Solcio, is a flybridge with a modern and innovative design. The classic lines of the British brand match with elegance and modernity. The boat has been especially projected to make best use of a propulsion system through “pods”, like Zeus of the Cummuns MerCruiser Diesel, that has a manoeuvre and moor system through joystick, available both for the lower and the fly pilot position.

Interview with Aldo Mangili, President of the firm of Bergamo Elyt, producing high quality accessories to personalize pleasure boats and make the life on board unique

Interview with Aldo MangiliPeople with a great care for details and excellence, love to be surrounded by pretty and functional objects in any situation, even when busy ploughing the sea during a race or in a relaxing yacht trip.
For this reason the firm from Bergamo Elyt creates high quality accessories personalized for pleasure yachts, suggesting solutions that will make life on board pleasant, according to the pay off “customizes your boat”.

Quality, utility, style are the concepts from which these products are created – from the fender-covers to the cushions, from the lamps to the glasses, from the shoes to the belts – that can be personalized with a logo, making every boat unique.

The president, Aldo Mangili, talks about how the firm was born and about the Elyt accessories.

How did you come up with the choice to focus on a collection of accessories to personalize pleasure boats?
The idea came on a boat during a trip with friends and from a banter against the owner for the not very pretty fender-covers. We began to talk about what the market offered in terms of quality and prices. I used to work in the field of textiles and clothing and my idea was to create a collection of fender-covers according to my view of quality and style and I gave them to the shipowner. This is how everything began.
Today, we create, produce and make partner firms produce glasses, shoes, towels, textiles, bags, clothes to wear on board and other objects that embellish and make cosier the sea life. To aim at excellence means to avail of the collaboration of firms specialized in specific sectors. Everything exclusively made in Italy.

Is it important the choice of textiles to make this kind of products?
The quality of the raw material has a fundamental importance in the creation of nautical products. The sea, especially, is very exigent and it strains any kind of material to the limit. Our research and development office allows us to create only top products. The Elyt quality doesn’t admit any kind of compromise, from the raw material to the wrapping, finishing and personalization, be it embroidered or laser-cut. This is why the thirty-year old Know-how of the founding associates is the essential heritage that Elyt puts to the disposal of its clients, both shipyards and shipowners. My specific experience is in the textile sector, others are focused respectively on high quality embroidering and on the renovation of spare parts of old boats. Even the colour can be personalized with Elyt. Elyt is a firm that loves the sea and it respects it and for the taint it uses colourings that meet the most severe international norms, to guarantee the highest solidity and resistance always in the respect of the environment.

What is your main target?
We supply numerous and prestigious shipyards, direct importers of boats produced in Europe and overseas, dealers and firms dealing with the laying up. Everyone seeks in our accessories high quality products and personalized exclusively with the name of the shipyard and/or the name of the boat.
Recently we have received many requests from private shipowners who found out about our products and want to personalize their boat everywhere is possible and they ask us for ever more gadgets to give to their guests as a reminder of the good times spent on the boat.

What is the dream yacht?
It’s a displaceable boat, it doesn’t have to be fast, people on a pleasure boat are not in a rush, it has to be able to comfortably welcome guests, few but real friends, it should allow even when sailing for conversation and to move freely, to have breakfast or dinner inside or on the prow and, why not, to enjoy a wonderful cigar while looking at the sun disappearing beyond the horizon.

What is the not-to-be-missed nautical event?

The Genoa Boat Show 2009 is coming soon. It aims at facing the financial crisis with optimism and at fulfilling the new needs of sea lovers.

The Italians and the maritime industry

One of the most important events for professionals and lovers of the maritime industry is coming soon. The Genoa Boat Show 2009 aims at facing the financial crisis with optimism and at fulfilling the new needs of who loves the sea.

Exposition tendencies confirm the results achieved with the research that Ucina commissioned to the ISPO of Renato Mannheimer, presented on the occasion of the Satec of Venice, titled “The Italians and the maritime industry in time of crisis.”

The survey revealed how the interest for the sea is still deeply entrenched in the heart of the Italians. Despite the crisis Italians still have great interest in boats, for they allow evasion and contact with nature. And if the crisis decreases purchases, then the interest turns to second-hand goods, to renting and co-ownership.

The Italians and the maritime industry at times of crisis.
The passion for the pleasure craft industry, and its entrenched culture and love for the sea and boats, is well alive in Italians’ collective imagination and continues to be associated to the concepts of freedom (42%), adventure (35%) and passion (31%), denying thus the cliché according to which the maritime industry is seen as a status symbol, since only 25% of interviewees think so.

In order not to give up the dream of a boat, even in times of crisis, our fellow countrymen opted for the sharing of property (16%) or as an option, the rent (3%), to continue the experience on the sea, with an awareness that is always more and more environment-friendly. 66% of those sailing the sea is happy of the services offered along Italian coasts, but more than 42% believes that foreign harbours offer more comforts.

The survey was carried out on over a thousand people: on the one side a significant share of the population over 18 living in Italy (about 800) and on the other side over 350 pleasure boaters that is individuals that go sailing at least once or twice a year. The percentage of people that identify the maritime industry with passion and freedom increases to 93% if the targeted audience is that of pleasure boaters. 49% of the latter also declares that during the coming 12 months will go sailing more often.

This trend is also confirmed by the fact that 1/3 of sea lovers wishes and intends to change his own boat within the coming 12 months. This means that passion for pleasure boating is not fading, despite the difficult moment.

However it is essential to face this generalized goods’ crisis, which obviously does involve the maritime industry too, so much so that lovers are taking into consideration alternative ways such as co-ownership and rent: in fact, 1 pleasure boater over 2 owns a boat and 16% owns it in co-ownership with others, whereas 3% chooses to rent it. Moreover, 66% of those who do not own a boat declared they would buy it immediately, though in co-ownership.

The group of those that sail with passion is divided into two when it comes to choosing between the new (45%) and the used (45%).

Moreover, for sea lovers sailing means to be in touch with the nature (93%). Pleasure boaters are increasingly more aware and eco-friendly, considering the reduction in consumption a key characteristic for new boats (32%), so as the use of low-emission engines and the use of eco materials (22%) for the construction of boats, and eventually the marine features of the boat, that is safety (67%).

The Genoa Boat Show will host 450 exhibitors, of which 37% is composed by international ones, 2400 boats, of which 550 on water. Boats that are shorter than 10 metres are make up for the 56% of the total.

Pneumatic boats will be 462. Boats longer than 24 metres will be 76, on which 31 will be over 30 metres long, featuring an average length of 35.41metres.

Alternative propulsions come into being together with key elements such as functionality, reduction of consumption, eco-sustainability that turn into being new exposition trends. We witness an increase in the number of boats that are mostly suitable for family excursions and are easy to handle (daycruisers increase from 15.5 % in 2008 to 20% in 2009, whereas flubridge novelties increase from 2% in 2008 to 14% in this upcoming edition).

2009 Genoa Boat Show was presented in July and proved again to be one of the most important international exhibitions for the boat sector.

Optimism, passion and freedom

It was presented on 22 July 2009 in Milan the 49th edition of the International Genoa Boat Show that will take place from 3rd to 11th October at the trade fair zone in Genoa. This show proves once more to be one of the most important international exhibitions for the boat sector and prepares to play an anti-crisis role thanks to the presence of 1450 exhibitors, of which 37% is represented by foreigners, and 2400 boats of which 550 are the new models, to demonstrate the vitality of this sector and its ability to catch the very first signs of recovery. Such upturn is strictly linked to the change in relationship between pleasure boaters and the sea.
Exhibition tendencies have, in fact, followed a trend revealed by the Ucina-Ispo survey presented at the Satec, Venice, in May. The survey investigated the relationship of Italians with seamanship. Freedom, adventure and passion are the three main motivations tying Italians to boats, denying the cliché according to which seamanship is seen as status symbol. Moreover, for pleasure boaters, boating means to be in touch with nature. Widespread is the introduction of alternative propulsions and the increase of easy-handling boats, suitable for family excursions.

To introduce the news of the event is the President of the Genoa Show Paolo Lombardi who drew upon the good results of the 2008 Boat Show.
“The success can be summarized with three data: 150.600 sq.m. of sold exhibition area, 1500 exhibitors, 315.000 visitors. Compared to the 2002 edition, these results show an increase equal to 38%. I mention the year 2002 as since then data of other excellent Italian shows are available. Such shows became, within their sectors, an international reference event, such as MICAM, the Furniture Show, MIDO and Vinitaly. The success of the Genoa Boat Show comes from far away and marks a neat acceleration, within the last five years, as a consequence of strategic decisions took by the managers of the Genoa Show, of its associates, and companies in the boat industry. More specifically, two are the main winning guidelines that I mean to mention: the first is the decision to invest on Genoa, so that the evolution of the market could be sided by natural characteristics and the peculiar marine facilities of the area; the second is the decision to draw a long-run plan of collaboration between the Trade Fair and various associations so to optimize the realization of the event. Keeping this in mind, the past few days saw the signing, between the Trade Fair and Ucina, of operational agreements so to optimize the use of Nuova Darsena strategic asset in order to guarantee a lasting development of the Boat Show in Genoa. Finally, the qualitative growth of the Show catches the attention of prestigious brands: I am glad to announce this year’s agreement with Rolex that will be the official watch of the Show, with Allianz and Banca Carige”.

In the sign of optimism, the speech by Anton Francesco Albertoni, Ucina President: “Today we can state that the International Genoa Boat Show reached its goals and that the Italian nautical industry is one of the sectors of the National industry to hold the means to face this serious international economic crisis. This very Show demonstrated that our sector is healthy and that our businesses continue to believe and to invest, despite the moment of crisis that inevitably touched it. In order to recover and sustain competitiveness it is necessary to identify concrete solutions regarding essential issues”.

On 3rd October the very first General Assembly of Nautical Industries will take place so to allow an exchange between the businessmen of the sector and the Government and Institutions. The Prime Minister and ten other ministers are invited to join the event. Among the main issues that will be dealt with: the creation of a network of tourist ports, the reform of safety regulations, and the introduction of nautical tourism among tourist policies. As of today significant steps forward have already been registered: “Finally the enactment of a new circular regarding the Italian nautical leasing took place allowing the restart of this financial tool that is very essential to our development and that has been for too long paralyzed due to interpretational uncertainties and to the dispute that arose – continues Albertoni. The same is valid for the text proposed by the Senate Commission, regarding the legislation reform for port matters, which provides for a disposition that aims at designing unused areas of commercial ports for the nautical industry.”

As far as it concerns available areas, the new pavilion B, signed by Jean Nouvel, will be inaugurated and the layout of water areas will be refined, increasing to almost 9 kilometres the total length of sea courses.

TechTrade is back, the section dedicated to components and accessorizes for pleasure boating. On 5th and 6th October TechTrade will be reserved to b2b meetings among operators of the nautical supply chain.
Numerous conferences and side events will definitely not be missing, allowing young and curious experts to get in touch with the nautical industry and deepen the knowledge of life on the sea. Numerous will also be the news presented by companies, from motor and sailing boats, to pneumatic ones, accessories, electronic instrumentation, services and motors.
Names such as Absolute, Aicon, Frauscher, Riva, SanLorenzo, Sessa Marine, Jeanneau will be present.

CRN will present its novelties for the autumn at the Festival International de la Plaisance of Cannes and at the Monaco Yacht Show with many different luxury yachts like the 72 meters mega yacht Clarena II

Nautical show rooms in Cannes and MonacoAn autumn of novelties expects CRN, that is going to present at the Festival international de la Plaisance of Cannes and at the Monaco Yacht Show different luxury yachts and to launch the 72 meters mega yacht Clarena II.

During the French event it will be presented the 43 meters Navetta 43 “Rubeccan”, in Monaco the mega yacht “Blue Eyes” will be the protagonist.

CRN 43, “Rubeccan” is a 43 meters maxiyacht able to welcome 10 passengers and 9 members of the crew. Created in collaboration between the technical staff of CRN and the Studio Zuccon Internationl Project, that took care of the external layout, this ship travels at a cruising speed of 13 knots with two C32-C Caterpillar engines. The ship features big volumes, and Italian style furnishing and internal design. The terrace in the ship owner’s suite and the fitness area with astern sauna on the lower deck, connected to the sea thanks to opening of the stern hatchback that becomes a beach just an inch from the water, are the two creative solutions projected by the shipyard for the Navetta 43, composite collection.

CRN 126 “Blue Eyes” is a 60 meters mega yacht that can welcome 12 guests and a 14 people crew. A slender prow, large volumes, big spaces leaning on the sea are the characteristics of the steal and aluminium ship, also outcome of the collaboration between the CRN shipyard and the Studio Zuccon International Project that took care of the exteriors, while the interior design is by the Studio Fabrizio Smania plc. The drive has 2 3512B Caterpillar to make the ship sail at a cruising speed of 14 knots. Innovative is the stern of the lower deck, that belongs to an area set up as a real “beach club”. The stern hatchback transforms, in fact, in a big beach just an inch from the water, equipped with comfortable sun chairs and that can be used as solarium. Distinctive feature of this ship is also the terrace of the ship owner’s suite, created as a real platform leaning on the sea, thanks to the use of a hatchback that can be lifted at 90 degrees and can be set up as a “balcony”. A point of strength of the CRN mega yacht, the terrace is among the most demanded personalisations of ship owners.

On 19th September 2009, instead, it will be launched the 72 meters yacht Clarena II, the biggest pleasure craft built in CRN together with the 80 meters mega yacht constructed by CRN 129 (launch expected in 2011).
